SPEECH: Badcoe community reaction to South Road artist images
Mr Speaker, imagine waking up on a sunny Sunday morning .. collecting your paper from your driveway .. unfurling it over a hot coffee .. to see images of your own neighbourhood – looking nothing like your own neighbourhood.
You splutter your coffee as you realise that outside your home you’ll soon have not just the 50 metre wide sunken roadway you were expecting to be built in place of the existing South Road … but additional at-grade roads .. three tunnel exits .. and most surprisingly an elevated flyover road – right in front of your home. All spanning some 120 metres wide.
OPINION: Heartbreak and Highways
Picture this.
You come home from a busy day at work. Much like any other weekday afternoon.
You step over your doormat emblazoned with 'Welcome'. Home to your safe haven. You hug your kids, kiss your partner, pat the dog. Maybe you'll unwind with a cool drink on the back porch before starting to cook dinner. Maybe you'll go for a walk, and chat with your friendly neighbours along the way.
SOUTH ROAD UPDATE: Clarification sought from DIT after confusing Committee evidence
I've had scores of calls, Facebook messages and emails about information given to the Budget and Finance Committee this week by the Department for Transport about the South Road upgrade. I've sent the Department an urgent letter asking for clarification for our community. If you'd like to discuss your individual circumstances with me just get in touch.

The SA Parliament’s Budget and Finance Committee today heard new information of relevance to the people of Badcoe. The number of properties to be acquired has risen to ‘around 400’, the revelation of which properties will be acquired will now be ‘progressive’, and the Department discussed what being doorknocked by a DIT official might mean for local people
SPEECH: The crisis in Afghanistan
The heart breaking, violent and unfathomable situation in Afghanistan is undoubtedly horrific.
What was once a nation on the long path towards equality and democracy, has now veered off and is speeding in an entirely different direction – back to a dark past.
There is great suffering – and the constant fear of even greater suffering to come.

WATCH THE VIDEO: South Road / Cross Road Confusion
Badcoe residents have been told for nine months that the Cross Road intersection (Emerson Crossing) won't be touched as part of the North-South Corridor work.
We've been flatly told by DIT that Cross Road will NOT connect into the southern tunnel at all.
In Parliament on the 3rd August, the Minister suggested the OPPOSITE - indicating Cross Road IS part of the project!
