MEDIA RELEASE: $200m to get roads moving - Marion Road Level Crossing to go

An Albanese Labor Government will inject $200 million to reduce congestion in Adelaide’s south and improve road safety by removing the Marion Road Level Crossing and upgrading Marion Road between Cross Road and Anzac Highway.

The project will be delivered in partnership with the new Malinauskas State Labor Government and will see:

  • The Marion Road level crossing removal.

  • The upgraded intersection of Anzac Highway and Marion Road.

  • The upgraded intersection of Cross Road and Marion Road.

This major investment will remove a major blockage for locals’ daily commute, improve safety for motorists and pedestrians, and create business opportunities across the region with improved transport flows and better amenity.

In addition, an Albanese Labor Government will partner with the Malinauskas Labor Government to develop a plan to reduce congestion on Morphett Road at the Glenelg tram level crossing and Anzac Highway intersection.

Today’s announcement is the latest step in an Albanese Labor Government’s comprehensive plan to ease congestion across Adelaide’s south, delivering more jobs and a better future for local families.

Working closely with the State Government, Labor will deliver:

  • Marion Road level crossing removal and upgrading of intersections.

  • A Morphett Road traffic management study.

  • On/off ramps for the Southern Expressway at Majors Road, reducing traffic on Brighton Road.

  • The final stages of the North-South Corridor.

These significant infrastructure projects will help future proof the region and give residents and businesses back their time - less time stuck in traffic and more time doing the things they want to do.

While the Liberals wasted six years naval gazing with just a study to show for it, only an Albanese Labor Government can be trusted to deliver work in partnership with the Malinauskas State Government and deliver for Boothby.
