MEDIA RELEASE: Marshall pushes promised Gallery to after election

Steven Marshall has kicked the can down the road for his signature commitment of a National Aboriginal Art and Cultures Gallery.

It’s been revealed it will no longer be delivered before the 2022 election, with the Premier telling InDaily he “hopes” it will open sometime in 2023.

It comes after revelations that the ‘national’ gallery is now no longer national, and is also no longer a ‘gallery’ – renamed for a third time as the Aboriginal Art and Cultures Centre.

There are also questions about whether the $146 million allocated will be sufficient to cover the landmark project, considering similar interstate galleries have had price tags of $400 million.

Steven Marshall has yet again promised to deliver – and failed.

His signature project of a National Gallery is now no longer national, and no longer a gallery. Now we discover it won’t even be delivered for up to two years after the next election.

Steven Marshall is only saying he ‘hopes’ it’ll be delivered sometime in 2023. It takes a little more than hope to deliver major election promises.

Yet again Steven Marshall has made promises before doing proper research or consultation. He’s now finding out promising is one thing, but delivering is another.
