The new Goodwood Oval Clubhouse will officially open today, delivering on a signature commitment of the Member for Badcoe Jayne Stinson.
In 2017, as Labor’s candidate for Badcoe, Ms Stinson joined with the local community to campaign for a new sports hub at the site to replace the ageing structure.
Over six months, 800 locals signed a petition helping Ms Stinson to secure $2.5m from the Weatherill Labor Government. That funding was then leveraged to secure a further $1.1m from the SANFL, SACA and the City of Unley.
The big jump in participation in girls and women’s sport and inclusive leagues, meant the old clubhouse was no longer fit-for-purpose. The new $3.6m club house features female changerooms, full disability access, dedicated umpire’s areas, medical and rehab rooms (including an ice bath), solar energy, and improved bar, kitchen and IT facilities.
A new electronic scoreboard and cricket sight screens were also secured for the site under Labor’s Fund My Neighbourhood program. That program was axed under the Marshall Liberal Government, along with the dedicated fund for female changerooms.
The seat of Badcoe is a marginal seat in the inner southern suburbs of Adelaide.

This is an awesome day for our community. It’s a testament to the value of dreaming big, working hard, and listening to local people to deliver wonderful results.
The new club house means more girls and women can play sport in Badcoe, and people with a disability will be better included – on and off the sports field. The building also serves our wider area as a venue for local community groups to use.
This beautiful new building is already a source of great pride for us, and other sports clubs area eager to play at Goodwood Oval to experience the upgrades we’ve fought so hard to achieve.
Congratulations to the clubs and local residents for their persistence in making the case for this valuable community resource and working together to see it built.
