MEDIA RELEASE: Parents focus fight against Liberals school zone cut on Boothby

Families from the inner southern and western suburbs will today rally at a protest BBQ at Black Forest and focus their fight on the Member for Boothby Nicolle Flint.

In March the state Liberal Government announced nine suburbs would be suddenly axed from the city school zone, excluding students from Adelaide High and Adelaide Botanic High from next year.

Several affected suburbs are in Boothby and parents have repeatedly asked Nicolle Flint to represent their interests and oppose her colleagues school zone cut.

Labor Candidate Nadia Clancy will attend the BBQ and voice her support for local parents.

Parents remain furious at this sudden decision and they’re not backing down. This rushed and blatantly political decision impacts their kid’s education and families’ financial security.

What’s even more galling is hundreds more students will attend other local public high schools because of the re-zoning – but those schools have been overlooked for extra funding. It’s not fair.

Good local representatives stick up for their communities. Nicolle Flint needs to do that too. Ms Flint should be persuading her state colleagues of the devastating and unfair impact of their school zone decision and urging the Liberals to reverse it.

BBQ is at Forest Avenue Reserve at Black Forest from 12 noon today.
